Community Enterprise Hub, Kent
Winner of Invited Competition
This ‘Community Enterprise Hub’ for the people of Horns Cross in Kent was won in a limited competition. The building accommodates many uses including start-up office units for small businesses, a café, GP’s surgery and sound studio. The scheme also provides a number of affordable housing units within the site.
The design aims to pull green space from the parkland adjacent, knitting a neglected area to the town and leaving the opportunity for future development open, whilst creating a buffer space between the hub and road. The building is environmentally conscious, using natural ventilation, solar gains, as well as recycling water.
