Hastings Pier, Hastings

Winner of Limited Competition

3WA was asked to design a new iconic and contemporary frontage to the existing Victorian pier at Hastings. The building will house retail and food outlets with a casino on the top floor. The undulating tented canopy covering a central courtyard is supported by two masts, evocative of Hastings' maritime heritage. Our aim was to produce a simple modular building that could be constructed off site and built during the winter months to maximise the pier's summer usage.
