LLiria Square, Durres, Albania

2nd in International Competition

3WA were shortlisted for this international competition to design a new square for the city of Durres in Albania. Our proposal marked the location of the historic gate to the city with the world's tallest sun dial. This intervention unites the historic elements of the city in a modern way. The associated landscaping is informed by the sun dial as well as water pools providing evaporative cooling and areas for children to play.
